What could be listed as an Epic Fail

It amazes me how far I can Travel
Down this spiraling staircase
I want to go up
I need to be at the top
But the middle seems like no place to start
And just when I think
I'm about to hit rock bottom
I keep falling Failing

A Lost Friend

Where are you now?
It was a summers day
We walked. We laughed.
And then
We stopped.
And now you are gone.
I am alone
A shell of what I was
I am without you
Where are you now?
You are in this field
You are in the wind floating by
You are in the voices of the birds
You are everywhere
But right here in front of me

*Kind of about a story I read.  A couple in love and the witch took away the dudes girlfriend, poor guy.  He found her in the end, lived happily ever after.

The Obvious Goodbye

It is a strange thing
Someone can hold "feelings"
So Strong
So Passionate
So Heart-Wrenching
For one person,
And then (as if by magic, or some trick)
It is completely
And utterly
Turned Off
Was it ever really there?
Was it really just lust
Or a desperate attempt to not feel alone.

What Our Culture Thinks of Jesus today

So I listened to an interesting song a while ago, and I had to think about it.  Jesusland by Ben Folds.  It is quite interesting, the first time I heard it I didn't know what to think.  My first thought, without basing it on any lyrics, was that it was poking fun at Jesus.  But then I thought it just couldn't, it didn't sound like it was.  So I studied it a bit more, and what I found was pretty cool.  You are supposed to imagine the song like he is singing it about Jesus Christ.  As in what would it be like for Jesus if he came to earth today, walked around, and saw what people thought of him.  How they used him for their personal gain, but they didn't really know him.  It is saddening, but the truth.  We recently just started watching Vintage Jesus with some people at campus life, and were talking about how in modern society people use Jesus for what they want him to be, not what he is.  It can pretty much be summed up by a lyric in the song.

but no one knows your face.

Figments and Company

So anyways, I always try to write poetry when I can, and well I'm going to try at it more now.  Although I can already write structured poems, and I really want to learn how to write unstructured poems.  So now, I'm going to work at it.  This one will be bad, I wrote it quickly, and at the moment I stink at unstructured poems, I'll get better...I promise.

You
You are a thought
A slowly dying glimpse
Of what could never be
And in the end, I will realize
You were never there

I will stand alone
Stand aghast
Staring at where you weren't
A fading cheshire cat grin
Imprinted in my mind

It isn't easy (it never was)
To believe in something
Not real
Like finding out who santa wasn't
(But then I still got gifts)

In the end I will be
Lost. Wandering.
With all these counterfeit thoughts
Riddled in my head
You are one of them
You are gone
It is gone
